November - December- January News

Block News

The last days of the present block are:

Sunday 11th December, Monday 12th December ... Friday 16th December.

The new blocks will begin on Sunday 15th January and run for nine weeks.

Registration and payment with Ian and Sue will be on the following dates:

1.Sunday 11th December 945 - 1115,
2.Tuesday 330 - 500,
3.Wednesday 330 - 500

Ian and Sue will make themselves available to sort out any class changes for next year and to take payment for the new block. All those who pay in December get 2011 rates!!!!

If you cannot make it in person, please email ian@glasgowwestern.co.uk stating child's name, DOB and interest in continuing. To take advantage of 2011 rates, payment needs to be made before Christmas. Ask Ian for details of how to do this if you cannot come along in person.

Meetings With Ian and Julie - Sunday 27th November

Come along and chat to Ian and Julie about tennis, junior development and the club in general. We hope as many of you as possible can come along to meet Ian.

The meetings will take place at the following times:

9 - 10 am: Parents of the Mini Tennis Orange and Green kids
10 - 11 am: Parents of Red Kids
11 - 12 pm: Parents of Yellow Ball kids

Please register your attendance stating time and child's name with ian@glasgowwestern.co.uk so we can organise an appropriate space in the club. Or just turn up on the day!

Christmas Day Out - 3rd December 2011 

Ian and Julie will host a tennis fun event at the club on Saturday 3rd
December. The day consists of tennis fun (and indoor activities if weather bad) from 1 - 4 pm at Western followed by a meal out at Paperino's at 5 pm. The event will cost £20 which includes food, drink and prizes.

Children need to be transported from Western to Paperino's and will be ready for collection at 630 pm. This
event is open to members of the club (or those who participate in the coaching programmme) who are Orange level upwards (ie 9 years upwards). If you would like to put your child's name down, please email Julie: julieandmel@glasgowwestern.co.uk

N.B. You must let us know by email if you intend to come along so we can sort out the numbers for food!

Ratings Tournament

Ian is running a Ratings Tournament this Saturday/ Sunday (26th/ 27th Nov) at the club. This is for adult team players but also suitable for good tournament junior players. If unsure of your eligibility, just ask Ian. Entry is by emailing rating and BTM number to ian@glasgowwestern.co.uk and the entry fee is £10, payable on the day. Guaranteed two matches.

Winter Weather Policy

The weather has been great so far but we are sure it will be getting colder soon enough. Please send the children along with gloves and hats for tennis at this time of year. We hope there will be no snow but in the event of severe weather CHECK THE BLOG for details of what is happening, If nothing on the blog, please assume that coaching is on.

Christmas Offers and Ideas

1. Christmas Trees will be on sale at the club again this year from the beginning of December onwards. Ian also sells tennis rackets, balls, grips, bags, t-shirts and hoodies that can provide ideal Christmas presents. See Ian at the club during registration or drop him an email if interested in any of these purchases. (N.B. He will need 7 - 10 days notice for some rackets and for items of clothing.)

2. Cafe Source at Hillhead Sports Club have an offer on just now for 10% off food and drink for all members of Western. This offer is extended to those parents who have children at the coaching. Quote 'Western Tennis Club' as your reference. Offer runs until Christmas.

3. Cottier's Christmas Night Out Saturday 10th December. Annual Christmas night out for members and friends. £30 (excluding drinks). Email ian@glasgowwestern.co.uk to sign up or see sign up on club noticeboard.

Sunday 4th December - Farewell Drinks

Julie is having farewell drinks in the bar at Western from 6 - 9 pm on Sunday 4th December. All welcome!
