November/ December 2014 News

Christmas Party Sunday 30/11 3 - 530pm

All orange level kids upwards (if unsure of eligiblity, just ask) are invited to western 3-530 pm on Sunday 30/11 for tennis fun and a team competition followed by pizza in the bar. The cost of this event is £5 to cover the cost of food and drink. If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know and we'll try and adapt.

We traditionally go out for lunch but in anticipation of the new restaurant opening in time for next year, we thought we'd go "in house". We will run no matter what as we can run fun games indoors if weather is bad.

If you would like to attend, please email westerntenniscoachingclub@gmail.com

Please note this invitation excludes:

Monday 430 class, Thursday 445 class and Thursday 5 pm group (hillhead) as the coaches are making separate arrangements for those groups.

Giorgia will speak to the older girls in the wed and fri 545 groups.

New block

The last day of the current block is Friday 5th December.

It is getting a bit chilly so we recommend hat and gloves for all at this time of year.

A full calendar of next year's first term arrangements including February camp and Easter camp will be posted in the next week or so under the tab "Coaching 2015" on the blog. There will also be details there of how to pay and early bird discounts.

Junior Winter Challenges

We are running a green event at the club today Sunday (23/11) 3-5 pm at western. Please let us know if you are coming.

We are also running a series of indoor red events at the Donald Dewar centre in Drumchapel in conjunction with Drumchapel Tennis Club. This is a great opportunity to get some guaranteed indoor tennis and learn how to play matches.

Entires for both competitions and for next year's series of red and green is via the "competition" section of the blog.

There is also a link to the West of Scotland Winter Challenge Series on that page too which lists red, orange, green and yellow events you can access from now till March across the west of scotland.

Coming soon for next year ....

Parent workshops

We'd like to run workshops for parents to give you more information about the potential journey your child (and you!) can take at the club. The new restaurant will be up and running in April and we anticipate that there will be greater interest in all aspects of the club. We want to give you guys the first opportunity to grab memberships at the existing prices and tell you about other opportunities and explain about teams and pathways in general. Workshops begin from February and we will email, post on the blog, tweet and post on facebook.com/juliegtennis once we have the fine details!

Other Club News

1/ We are looking at various options to improve what we offer as a gym facility with a possible rearranging of our gym equipment . Any suggestions are more than welcome from regular gym users?

2/ We plan to run a new membership system and operate it from the club to improve efficiency .

The "big change" this year is that everyone affiliated will be contacted by the LTA to "opt in" which you must do in order to be affiliated for 2015. Full details in the link below.
