Last day of the present block
Friday 22nd June marks the last day of the present block. Thank you to all the coaches and staff who have worked so hard throughout the term. Thanks to all the children for making such a great effort during the lessons and to the parents who bring them back and forth and help with the teams. We wish you a fantastic summer holiday. New blocks
Will commence late August/ early September - watch your emails and the blog for details. Julie will be organising these for the club while she is here in July and August. We welcome any feedback about the groups and on how we could do things better via minitennis@glasgowwestern.
'War of the Worlds' Wine Tasting Evening Friday 6th July 730 pm
Leave the kids at home and come and join us for an evening of wine tasting at Western Tennis Club on Friday 6th July at 730 pm. Tickets on sale at the club. See gym staff or bar staff for further details.
Summer Camp...
...will run for 8 weeks from Monday 2nd July to Friday 24th August. We have created a separate tab with all the details. See above! There are still spaces on every week but it is looking particularly busy on weeks 1,2,5,6 (weeks commencing 2/7, 9/7, 30/7 and 6/8)..
New for Summer 2012
Summer Mondays and Wednesdays for Tournament Playing Juniors
We will run Monday evening sessions at Western from 4-530 for seven weeks starting from Monday 2/7 (last Monday 13/8). Ian will coach the first two and Julie will do the remaining 5. The sessions are suitable for tournament playing under 12s, under 14s and under 16s. The cost will be £8 per session and they will consist of a mixture of drills and match play. You must register your interest at minitennis@glasgowwestern.
In conjunction with this, Jordan Gray from Thorn Park is offering a similar session from 4 -7 pm every Wednesday night of the school holidays beginning Wednesday 4/7. The sessions here will cost £15 per week and the last hour will consist of fitness training. Please email Jordan at jagtennis2002@yahoo.co.uk

Summer Thursdays
We would like to offer a social match play evening for Reds, Oranges and Greens at Western on the following Thursdays from 330-5:

The evenings will consist of lots of tennis and a social aspect afterwards for the children and their families. Parents are welcome to join in the sessions too if they would like to play some tennis.
The cost will be £5 per session per child (parents go free) and we are looking for volunteers to help at these sessions. Anyone (parents, older brothers and sisters, grandparents) interested in helping out (with score keeping, putting equipment back, helping with catering etc.), please email in and we will gather you together for a preliminary meeting to discuss how it's going to work.

Summer Challenges
Please find below a link to challenge events that are held throughout the West of Scotland
during the summer. They are suitable for all those who have competed at red, orange, green and yellow. Please support these tournaments, especially those running at Western, Broomhill, Westerton and Thorn Park. These are our nearest clubs and we would like to see these events well supported by local kids.
