Mad March News

SPECIAL TEAM TRAINING SESSIONS: Sunday 10th and Sunday 17th March 230 - 430 pm

Julie will be running TWO special team training sessions over the next two Sundays from 230 - 430PM. The aim of the sessions is to gather juniors who would like to play in the under 12 and under 14 yellow ball players together (boys and girls) for some fitness, drills and doubles training. (Please bring a drink). (N.B. IF the under 16 and under 18 players would like something similar, please contact Julie and remember that you are also welcome at the Senior Team Training on Saturdays and Sundays).

The objectives will be:

- to encourage the group to develop some team spirit ahead of the junior leagues
- to set some fitness goals for themselves
- practise tennis but specifically to fine tune their doubles skills

The cost of the sessions are £10 and the session will run inside and outside the club using the courts, the gym and perhaps goal setting in the bar or squash court. We will possibly also do some hill sprinting around the perimeter of the club. (The motto: BE PREPARED for all of that!)

If you would like to attend, please email juliegtennis@gmail.com to book a place as they are limited. If you cannot attend but would like to be part of the teams, please email Julie.

If these sessions are popular, we could run them from 800 - 10 am OR 330 - 530 pm during the Easter holidays as a kind of "Advanced Tennis Camp". If you would be interested in this, please let Julie know on juliegtennis@gmail.com. It is easy for us to organise events for the under 10s but it would be great to get some feedback from the yellow ball players themselves about what they would like happening for them so please encourage them to email in or interact via facebook: https://www.facebook.com/juliegtennis

SPONSORED FUN RUN WITH THE THISTLE CHICKS!

We have now organised the time and venue for our sponsored Fun Run. It will run on Sunday 24th March in Victoria Park. We invite you to run/walk a mile (or more!) with us on this day. We will be setting off runners at 10 am - 11 am - 12 pm and 1 pm while those in training for the marathon will be running the whole time! We ask that you make a £5 donation to enter or raise your own sponsorship by asking your family and friends to sponsor you. The Thistle Chicks was the inspiration of Samantha MacCuish, mum of Abbey and James, and she has recruited Julie and two others to run the London marathon and raise £5000 or more for the NSPCC.
